THE CHABUKI MASTER

Me and my good old friend Ryan, who just turned proud
father of Chabuki zeee Greatest 3 months ago.
RUSTY NAIL rules !!! (the legendary High School band from
LBHS '89)

JUST ANOTHER BEAUTIFUL SUNSET

yeah yeah yeah... it's tuff out here in Venice.
During the day you don't get any work done,
cauz the sun is blinding you, and when it finally
sets, your senses are all mixed up by the beautiful
colors.

While I took this pic today, there were all these guys from India
trying to get a good shot on top of the rocks, but the waves came
closer than they expected. Wet T-Shirt photography of a different
kind ;-)

ZEEE GERMANS

My man Charlie the Wooperman was in town to work on a shoot.
And he brought his sweet girlfriend and his bro JK.
The almighty film crew that shot "Sweet Sting".
Produced by my bearded self and just accepted to the European
Film Festival in Paris. In "Competition". YES !

MEXICO MEXICO MEXICO PART 2

Jesus was watching over us and praying for swell. A real "Swellprayer" ;-)
Some of the guys were using the ocean as a driving range, hitting some
golf balls in between the surf. And they had these really nice 38 K shirts.
...and yes, I am the bearded man in the pics below. We'll see how long the
beard lasts.

...and yes, the beer was the only "food" in the frigde. And it was gone the
first night. Ouch! Bad hangover is no good for surfing ;-)

MEXICO !!! MEXICO !!! Andale andale....

Yes, we did it. Christian and me crossed the border to the land of
no worries and good surf ! It's funny how you just drive 30 min from
San Diego and suddenly everything is metric. Makes you think, hmm
I've seen this 60km/h sign before ;-) But, of course, nobody cares about
speed limits in Mexico. All you need is your horn ;-)

We went down to K 38 (38 km south of the border), to a famous surf
spot where a friend of Christian owns a trailer. A real surf shack.
Good times. And in Rosarito you can get a fresh lobster for just $15.
Sweet.

XGAMES CRAZINESS PART 2

...and then there were the BMX riders which
had a big air contest on the mega ramp.
The paramedic truck in front of the ramp
says it all. Insane ! They were dropping in
on a wooden ramp that was as steep as
a ski jump. ON A BMX BIKE !!!

XGAMES CRAZINESS PART 1

After the already spectacular Beach Games, we went to see
the finals of the XGAMES. Hmmm... All the riders seem to
be still alive, but believe, it was crazy and it really
is a miracle that they survived. Just imagine somebody
doing a double backflip on a motocross bike!!!
TRAVIS PASTRANA IS THE NEW EVEL KNIEVEL, for all I know !!!
The pictures say it all, although the double backflip
is not included.

BEACH GAMES IN HUNTINGTON BEACH

Last weekend we went down to Huntington Beach to check out the
Bank of the West Beach Games. It was a super hot day and we all
got our share of sun, but the action was impressive. Rob Machado
won the Surfing competition. He's my hero! A true soul surfer.
The BMX riders were out of control. As the commentator said "That
trick makes no sense", when a rider was performing a seat grab
and barspin as one trick. And then it happened. One rider actually
did a tailwhip flare in the bowl. For all of you who don't get the
idea, look at the pic with the BMX guy upside down and the back wheel
not where it's supposed to be. Insane!
The skaters also rocked and the Freestyle Motocross was pretty spectacular
as well, as can be easily seen on the pics. A great day in the sun.
And we were truly entertained...

A NIGHT AT THE STANDARD HOTEL

Media magazine RES presented a lovely night of Brazilian "Ginga"
at the legendary Standard Hotel in Hollywood. Brazilian graphic
design was showcased and some short films were projected on the
screen by the pool. It was a lovely night with Niels & Mel.

YEN MUSIC VIDEO SHOOT

We did a music video for Asian-American artist YEN.
This time we shot in a loft in downtown LA. It was
an awesome location and the crew was really nice.
Two of my friends from Germany, Niels & Mel,
helped out on the shoot and we all had a great time.
It was dark, though, and only one light rigged to
the camera. The video is not done yet, but the footage
looks great.

BOY KILL BOY - MUSIC VIDEO
The whole last week we shot a music video for
UK band Boy Kill Boy. They were touring with the
Charlatans UK and we shot some footage of them
on the road. They played in SF, LA and San Diego.
and even the House of Blues in Disneyland !!!
Nice guys, but a stressful shoot.
We took some time out to shoot a few scenes at
Sunset Beach just south of Long Beach. Some
surfers were rocking the waves in the background.
Indie rock meets the beach!

ALOHA
Aah! Surf Vacation in San Onofre with Carsten and then
a good Italian dinner in San Clemente. The waitress kept
saying "How we doing, GUYS?". All of them used the
"Guys"-Lingo and kept saying "Awesome". Can somebody
please teach them to speak English? Sometimes it's best to
just put a hat on and smile!!! Enjoy the Aloha spirit!

TRISH - MUSIC VIDEO SHOOT NO.4
We just had another music video shoot with Asian-American
singer TRISH (www.trishttrang.com). She was lovely again and
we had two sweet girls, too. It's a song about friendship and
one of the girls is the young Trish and the other one her best
friend. The actual friend whom she wrote the song for was also
on set. And I got my signed copy of her album. Wehooow!!!

HOLDING DOWNTOWN IN SHAPE
Christian is giving the downtown skyline the necessary support.
This is the view from my new place. I moved from Silverlake
to Echo Park, right by Dodger Stadium. We can even hear the
fireworks from the stadium. Last night my roommate Jordan and
me were watching the game and we could hear the fireworks
outside. TV world and outside world in sync !

LADY MUSCLES IN MALIBU
The other day Christian who was visiting from Germany and me
went surfing in Malibu. And we bumped into this bikini photo shoot.
Well, what can I say, those ladies sure had their share of testosterone
;-) I mean, look at these muscles... ready to squash you.
But all natural, of course ;-)

TRISH MUSIC VIDEO SHOOT - "EVER AFTER"
The 3rd shoot was out in the desert (Palmdale area).
We had picked a really remote dirt road and laid
down some tracks, mounted the camera on a jib
(moving arm mechanism) to get some really
beautiful shots at dusk. Our star and her "husband"
looked great in the setting sun.

TRISH MUSIC VIDEO SHOOT - "UP AND DOWN"
The 2nd one featured urban style choreographed dancing.
They busted some pretty amazing moves. And our star was
very brave and didn't complain about repeating
the same moves over and over again... in high heels!
Blister blister...Ouch!
